Microsoft's 'Telepathwords' can Tell Your Password's Safety

Microsoft, the renowned US software company, has recently introduced an internet tool namely ‘Telepathwords’, which helps to protect your password by selecting  a better one in the future. This tool predicts the next character of your password by considering the common passwords, like those made public owing to security breaks, common password selection behaviours and common phrases. The tool 'Telepathwords' works on a simple principle i.e. you simply have to type your favourite password in the text box and it tries to predict the next character of the password. The project manager said that in order to predict the subsequent
character that you type, the tool sends the typed character to enquire our prediction engine. The prediction engine then makes use of the database of common passwords and phrase which is very big enough to be send off to your computer. He also added that this new tool also sends and registers your mouse movement and the instance when the character was included or eliminated from your password so as to assess the outcome of Telepathwords on your behaviour.

Microsoft commented about the project “This log does not contain the actual characters you type, but it does indicate whether each character was among those predicted by Telepathwords". The new system analyses that how users are creating their passwords and what criteria being followed in coining them and build out a log file on each users password for the past periods and brings up suggestions to help them in choosing better passwords in the future.

AlwaysMouseWheel to Scroll A Window Without Clicking on It

AlwaysMouseWheel is a simple application which allows one to scroll a window on PC without clicking on the window but can switch to and scroll any window by moving the mouse cursor over it and spinning the wheel. This seems to be a small enhancement but for those who regularly work with lots of open applications then this tool will really make the work far easier.

If we need to scroll an open window on a PC then spinning the mouse wheel is the easiest way but this only works with a foreground window only which is currently selected. If you need to scroll some other window you should select it first. Here where AlwaysMouseWheel brings the change you don’t need to click on the windows which you need to work with, instead you can simply point the mouse cursor to the window which you need to scroll and the selection will change to the window where the mouse pointer points and you can simply scrolls the window without any extra clicks.

The tool provides one important configuration option also. In default the tool performs two steps when spinning the mouse wheel, it switches to the window under the mouse cursor and scrolls it. But if you select the option “Just forwarding the Wheel command” the first option will ended and it scrolls the window where the pointer is focusing without bringing it to the foreground first.

There are options available to enable or disable AlwaysMouseWheel and select whether or not it will run on startup. The interface minimizes to the system tray when not in use, making it easy to access when it is need to change. The tool comes as a ZIP file and is accessible after extraction and without any installation. So it allows one to store and carry it along a USB drive and use it when troubleshooting and performing many other tasks. AlwaysMouseWheel is a free application which is compatible to work with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 etc. To download the application please follow the link AlwaysMouseWheel.

Alt+Ctrl+Del was a Mistake; Said Bill Gates

The combination of Ctrl-Alt-Delete has been proved to be a great mistake by the Microsoft inventor Bill Gates and has expressed regret for it. It was actually used in early editions of the software to get into the system, thereby, forming an intricate barrier to come in.
This triple-combo is still under use in millions of systems worldwide became an icon to lock the computer screen and to unlock the screen and to invoke the task manager menu, The combination which rose above the renowned Homer Simpson, has been proved to be nuisance for the Windows user since 1980.

Recently, Bill Gates, in an interview at Harvard, confessed that it was a big mistake, but he actually meant to avoid other apps faking a login prompt and thus stealing a password. Admitting his fault before the audience, he said that he intended to have a single button but the IBM keyboard designer did not wanted to give them a single button. Gates blamed David Bradley, an IBM engineer, for formulating this triple combination. But Bradley should not be blamed for its invention as it is used even today in Windows 8 to mention the task menu.
