Japan Developed A New Glass to Translate Menus into Other Languages

In Japan a augmented new reality glass is developed that can translate menus in real time. The new invention was unveiled at a gadget fair in Japan and promised to distribute among the visitors of 2020 Tokyo Olympics. NTT Docomo was demonstrating its new development where cameras and computers combine together to give the user a whole different view of what they are seeing.

The new device features an overlay the unknown language of menus into the viewers preferred language also with the signs and menus in an understandable form. The new device will be a best companion for travellers in places where the foreign language menus are not common.

While displaying the new gadget at CEATEC in Japan Docomo commented to reporters that "Character recognition technology enables instant language translation for users travelling abroad and reading restaurant menus and other documents." Developers are almost finished their work to make an application which can turn a flat surface into a touchscreen, with a finger ring relaying positioning information to the device that lets wearers "touch" tags that only they can see, and even to perform an Internet search.

The new device also can be used to identify people using facial recognition feature and can search for people and watch their profile on a smartphone directory.

Dropbox 2.4 Features Screenshot Sharing

Dropbox has launched new version which supports Windows and Mac operating systems. Dropbox 2.4 is now available for download and contains many more exciting features. The new version comes with Screenshot Sharing to exchange print screens and images in a better way. One can select PrtSc (Print Screen) in windows or the corresponding key combination in Mac system and a pop up window will appear and you can save the image to Dropbox folder by selecting the option “Save Screenshots to Dropbox”

The new Dropbox 2.4 edition also supports capturing of selected area of the screen instead of going for the full screen capturing. One can use Alt+PrtSc combination to capture a particular window and the key combo Ctrl+PrtSc or Ctrl+Alt+PrtSc helps you to copy links to images and you can keep it in the clipboards for fast sharing. Facebook Introduces Auto-play Videos for Smartphone Users

Facebook is going to introduce a new feature to auto-play videos for mobile users. The videos playing in the news feed will be in silent mode but if wanted user can expand the clip by selecting on it and it will play audio also. Initially this feature will be available only to the videos posted by individuals, celebrities or musicians. Facebook is the most popular social networking site around the globe in these days with 1.15 billion users and they are planning to explore the new chances of ad placements with the new movement. The auto-playing of videos will be work with the videos which are directly uploaded to Facebook and it won’t support videos with any external application like YouTube.

Momo Zhou further added that the new program will not increase the data usage of users and it will not eaten up the battery power of the devices and there will not be any huge hike in the monthly phone bills.

Google Announced New Version of Android OS: KitKat

By surprising many geeks Google announces the next version of android Jelly Bean. The internet giant announced that the next Android 4.4 version will be named as KitKat like the iconic Nestle candy bar. But Google did not revealed further about what will be the attractions of the new version or when it will be launched out. The Nestle websitealso confirms this news that Google’s latest version of operating system will be named after the "popular chocolate and wafer confectionery" and the new KitKat website offers to "make an amazing Android experience available for everybody".

Airtel Starts 4G Services in Delhi

India’s leading tele services provider Bharti Airtel is all set to launch its 4G services in Delhi, the capital city of India. Airtel is already provides the fourth generation tele services in Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh. As a part of expanding the 4G network to Delhi Airtel has entered an agreement with Huawei, which is a Chinese leading manufacturer of systems and equipments to develop the infrastructure and to implement the exchange server equipments. Company officials commented on the reports that "We are planning to launch 4G services in Delhi by September and has selected Huawei for the network,"

Airtel is now concentrating their business on 4G segment and as part of boosting up the 4G operations company has slashed the prices of various 4G plans upto 31 percent. In 2010 Airtel has won spectrum for high speed broadband service and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) in four telecom services areas of Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka. Airtel has invested around Rs. 3314.36 crore for this purpose.

Moreover Airtel has increased its share of 4G coverage in the country by acquiring shares of a US based telecom giant Qualcomm Inc’s Indian 4G company Wireless Business Services (WBS). Airtel has acquired 49 percent of stake in Qualcomm and gets the service circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. Qualcomm had spent Rs. 4,912 crore to win the BWA licence for these circles.

In the 4G auction Reliance Jio Infocomm has also won 20 Mhz slot for pan-India BWA spectrum for Rs. 12,847.71 crore but Reliance has not yet started its 4G operations. Presently Airtel holds 51 percent of share in the country’s WBS and it plans to acquire the rest of the parts by the end of 2014. After completing the 4G service in Delhi, Airtel plans to commence its operations in Mumbai also and the discussions are started with network suppliers like Huawei and ZTE.

By shifting to 4G network, users can experience faster downloading at speeds more than 100Mbps and it can be increased upto 1Gbps at fixed location.

Microsoft Acquired Nokia Business for 7.17 Billion USD

Microsoft announced on Monday evening, the much expected news that it has finalized the deal with Nokia to takeover “substantially all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, license Nokia’s patents, and license and use Nokia’s mapping services.”

The total price of the deal is $7.17 billion of which $5.0 billion is the consideration for Devices and Services business acquisition and the remaining $2.17 billion is for patent licensing deal

Back in 2011 Microsoft entered in a partnership with Nokia but now Microsoft has acquired the major part of Nokia’s business. As a part of the new contract Stephen Elop who is the CEO of Nokia will be the new Nokia Executive Vice President of Devices & Services of Microsoft. From this movement it is expected that there are chances of being Elop will be appointed in a key position in the Microsoft toppers. this could be a strong signal about the future of Microsoft’s executive leadership.

While announcing the deal, Steve Ballmer who is the Microsoft CEO told to the reporters that “It’s a bold step into the future – a win-win for employees, shareholders and consumers of both companies. And now with this deal it could be the winding up of old Nokia like all we knows, but the company claims that it is planning on moving further as an individual entity and with different strategy. Nokia’s board chairman and current interim CEO after Elop’s relieve was quoted in a press release that “this is an important moment of reinvention and from a position of financial strength, we can build our next chapter… the deal offers future opportunities for many Nokia employees as part of a company with the strategy, financial resources and determination to succeed in the mobile space.”

Google Brings Touchscreen Experience to Chrome

The latest developer ‘Canary' version of Google's desktop internet browser can support swipes, pinches and other hands-on operations.

Touch screens are already the standard for mobile devices -- even BlackBerry's latest flagship keypad phone the Q10 also offers a high-definition touch screen in support of its QWERTY keyboard. Likewise, without the leaps and bounds made in multi-touch and finger-tracking technology, the tablet would still be something a doctor prescribes to treat illnesses and not something that schools are starting to prescribe as a means of boosting children's educational attainment.

Indeed, so big are touch screens that according to Lux Research, the market for haptics -- the technology that provides a tactile response to a touch command -- will experience a 16-fold increase over the next 12 years as touch and gestures become the norm for everything from smartwatches to control pads on running machines. "An emerging wave of haptics offers the potential for a more intuitive and information-rich touch experience than today's simple whole-device vibration," said Anthony Vicari, 

Lux Research Associate, of the company's research, published on Tuesday.

However, while there's little doubt that the touch screen is going to play a greater and greater role in how we as consumers interact with and make sense of modern technology, the jury is still well and truly out as to whether it has a role -- haptic or non-haptic -- to play in navigating and interacting with the traditional notebook or desktop PC.

And now Google is also playing around with the same interface, albeit limited to its web browser. As well as supporting pinch to zoom and left and right swipes to load cached pages, it also offers support for Microsoft's virtual keyboard that appears on the screen when a webpage field requires information -- say for example a social media login page. Just like Apple, Google is a serious innovator in the consumer electronics sphere, even if, until recently, its efforts have been focused on software and services, rather than hardware.

And, although the features in the latest Chrome build will not be filtering through to the latest consumer version within the next few weeks, the fact that the company is considering them at all highlights the fact that although traditional PC sales are falling, it is still a market well and truly dominated by Microsoft. 

Focusing touch input around a specific computer function also makes a lot of sense.

If the swipes and pinches are specifically for browsing, then there is no chance of disrupting productivity. It also means that as Windows 8 tablets become more popular that their owners will be able to use Chrome instead of Internet Explorer and still have the same features and commands, literally at their fingertips.

Samsung Launches Smartwatches in September

Samsung Electronics plans to introduce a wristwatch in September that can make phone calls, play video games and send e-mails , potentially beating its archrival, Apple, to market with a piece of technology that moves mobile communications beyond the smartphone.

The watch, called Samsung Galaxy Gear, would be shown off "around the time" of an electronics industry trade fair in Berlin that begins September 6, a person briefed on the matter said. Samsung has scheduled a media event for September 4 at which it is also expected to introduce the Note III, a new version of its "phablet," a cross between a phone and a tablet. Apple reportedly plans to show off its first wrist-worn device, expected to be called the iWatch, at a Sept. 10 event in Berlin.

Neither Galaxy Gear nor the iWatch will be the first watch phone on the market. Sony recently introduced a second-generation version of its smart watch, a gadget that works in conjunction with a smartphone in the user's pocket. Other smart devices like the Pebble Watch and the I'm Watch have also been sold for some time.

For Samsung, the idea is also not entirely new. The company introduced its first watch phone in 1999. Still, the category of smart watches remains underdeveloped, as none of the existing devices have captured the imagination of consumers.

Skype Introduces 3D Video Calling Feature

Instant messaging and video-calling service Skype is reportedly working on the prospects of 3D video calling and the current limitations with the 3D technologies stopped the company from launching the feature.

Microsoft's corporate vice-president for Skype, Mark Gillett said that the lab experimentation has been done to analyse the capability of 3D screens and 3D capture.

Gillett said that there has been a lot of progress in screens and people have started to buy televisions and computer monitors capable of delivering 3D image, but there is a lack of 3D capture devices and the company has been working on just that, BBC reports.

According to the report, the vice-president said that Skype is working with the technology where multiple cameras need to be attached to the computer, precisely calibrate them and point them at the right angle and are now aiming at using that technology to make it work in practical with supporting devices.

Gillet agreed with Hollywood director James Cameron who said that all forms of entertainment will eventually be 3D but warned that 3D video chats will take longer to catch on than other uses.

He further added that the penetration of 3D technology would be more on televisions and computers before eventually reaching the smartphone market, the report added.

Huawei is on the Way to Develop 5G Technology

As most of the people across the globe yet to introduced to fourth generation (4G) mobile technology, Chinese communication giant Huawei Technologies is on the way to develop fifth generation (5G) and the reports says which is likely to be on air by 2020.

Huawei officials reveals that currently they are running the project on high priority and 200 researchers working on the project but the company did not answered to the queries related to the features of the proposed technology or the budget they have employed for the mission.

Huawei Technologies official Wen Tong told that by 2020, there will be billions of connections and 5G can provide massive connectivity. The technology will enable people to have a fibre network like user experience on a wireless connection.

It can provide speed of 10 GBps, which is 100 times faster than the mobile technology used these days, Tong added.

South Korean giant Samsung has also announced that it has successfully tested 5G technology and it will be ready for commercial roll-out by 2020.

Now to cater the on growing customer demands and to cope up with the technology evolutions, mobile service providers across the world are upgrading their exchanges to high-speed long term evolution (LTE) or 4G networks where Huawei leads the segment by providing more than 85 such networks. It also a trial run to test the speed on its 4G technology on high speed MagLev train in Shanghai. Huawei has deployed an LTE network to support wireless connectivity on the train, which runs between the centre of the Shanghai district to the International Airport. The total length of the track is 31 km and the train achieves a speed of up to 431 km per hour.

App to Hear Your Lover's Heartbeat Through Mobile Phone

Researchers have developed a new app that lets long-distance lovers listen to each other's heartbeats regardless of the distance between them. Pillow Talk, a combination of a wristband and app from UK design company Little Riot, connects partners separated by miles by transmitting their heartbeats in real time.

The wristband picks up the wearer's heartbeat and transmits it via Bluetooth to the iOS or Android app. "You are connected directly to your partner via the app; you will receive his/her heartbeat, and they will receive yours. "By plugging in your headphones or the pillow speaker you can lie in bed and hear the realtime heartbeat of your loved one. The result is an intimate interaction between two lovers, regardless of the distance between them," the company said on its website.

Pillow Talk began life in a slightly different form as a university product of founder Joanna Montgomery in 2010. The project has since received more than 750,000 views on Youtube and worldwide attention, the company said.

Microsoft's New e-mail Service Outlook.com Becomes Trendy

Microsoft made a big move today by pulling the plug on Hotmail and replacing it with a fresher, cleaner, simpler email service called Outlook.com. Within just a few hours of its birth, Outlook.com witnessed 1 million sign-ups. So In this article we are trying to flash light to the trendy features of Microsoft Outlook.com email service which makes it popular even within the initial days of its debut.  

Signing up for the service is pretty basic and you're good to go after a few steps. A note of advice here, captcha is case sensitive while verifying your account. Once in, you're greeted by a simple blue and white themed Inbox. The colour is set by default and you can always head to the settings menu to change it. Overall, the design incorporates Metro style Windows 8 touches.

You can now link social accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Flickr. Apart from that, you can also access a horizontal menu for your Mail, Contacts, Calendar and SkyDrive by clicking on the Outlook icon.

Twitter integration allows you to tweet to your friends from Outlook.com and see their latest tweets in e-mails. But your contact list will appear overcrowded with all those you follow. Despite the option to search for contacts directly or jump through the alphabet by section using the lettered squares that is highly reminiscent of Windows, but it can get a bit tedious. Good news is Outlook.com has an option for merging contacts if you've imported them more than once.

The People Hub makes an appearance here which is used in Windows 8 and Windows Phone to manage contacts. Facebook Chat is integrated as well and your Facebook contacts shall appear should you choose to link with the social network.

Since the service is in its launch form, Skype integration is not available yet. But Microsoft plans to bring the video calling service once Outlook.com takes its final avatar.

Speaking of e-mail, a big standalone 'New' tab helps you create a new mail. The window is definitely quite different from the traditional Outlook that users are used to seeing. The sidebar offers access to enter recipient details. The right pane is a big white blank screen where you can type your message.

There's a formatting bar above and the subject line sits high on the top. Options to Send, Save, Cancel and more are situated in the command bar a little to your left. It did take some time to notice the new format but it's simpler once you get used to it.

Other features include the integration of keyboard shortcuts from Gmail and Outlook Desktop. There's also auto complete when searching your inbox along with auto forwarding, message archiving and vacation alerts.

You also can rename your e-mail address, recover deleted messages, create an Outlook.com alias and save the contents of a chat thread or a new message.

All-in-all, Microsoft has made a decent attempt to rejuvenate the email-service. It has a refreshing look and will attract many more users in the coming weeks.

After it is released in its final form, Outlook.com will replace Hotmail. But Microsoft will allow users to retain their @hotmail.com, @live.com and @msn.com addresses as well as their contacts, messages, password and rules.

A word of caution if you are using anything other than the latest version of IE, Chrome or Firefox - your experience may be less than optimal, since Outlook is built using modern technologies available only in the new browsers.
